Taylor Lautner Shares Rare Details About Taylor Swift Breakup

Taylor Lautner, Taylor Swift

Taylor Lautner shed new light on his breakup with pop superstar Taylor Swift, a topic he has rarely addressed.

The Twilight actor dated the "Anti-Hero" songstress way back in the fall of 2009 but eventually broke up a few months later.

Despite falling out of love, it seems there was never any bad blood between the two, even after Swift broke up with the movie star–a new tidbit that Lautner just confirmed during his recent appearance on the Call Her Daddy podcast. "I’m thinking back on exactly what happened. But no, yeah, she did [break up with me]."

"I think when you respect somebody for who they are, like in their soul, it allows you to move on, forgive and continue that love in a different way," Lautner, now 31, shared.

"We stayed friendly, we would see each other now and then. But we then did fall out of touch and didn’t talk for a while," the Home Team actor explained. "But I’ve always had the deepest respect for who she is as a person before anything else."

Acknowledging that the two "were so young" at the time that they dated, with Lautner being around 17 while Swift was approximately 20, as the two grew older, their friendship apparently grew stronger.

"Honestly I would say one of the greater things to happen in my life over the last year is the rekindling of our friendship," Lautner revealed.

Lautner has since moved on and even married yet another Taylor–Taylor Dome, whom he affectionately calls "Tay"–and the two are clearly very happy, even attending a recent performance of Swift's as well as the screening of her Eras tour concert film.

But it's not just Lautner's perspective that suggests the two reconciled after breaking up, as the 34-year-old Grammy winner gushed over her ex while introducing him to the crowd during an Eras tour concert.

"He was a very positive force in my life when I was making the Speak Now album, and I want to say he did every single stunt that you saw in that music video," Swift said at the time. "He and his wife have become some of my closest friends, and it’s very convenient because we all share the same first name."

Apparently, exes can be friends–and that's better than revenge.
