What Taylor Swift Always Buys at Antique Stores, According to Her Diary
Taylor Swift's newest studio album, Lover, is breaking records and thawing out icy cold hearts everywhere with her signature love-filled lyrics. The pop star has been through a lot over the past few years, from home break-ins to relationship break ups, and she's letting her fans in more than she ever has before—including giving away copies of her very own private diary entries with the purchase of her album.
In a set of one of these diary entries obtained by House Beautiful's very own Swiftie superfan, we get a glimpse into one of Swift's most well-known guilty pleasures: antique shopping.
"Another new hobby of mine is... antique stores," she begins in her diary entry. "And not just neat, organized antique stores. I really like the ones where there's so much crap to dig through, you can find absolute treasures for nothing."
Since the very start of her career, the singer has made it known that she prefers antique pieces over every day modern selections, and she's been photographed countless times wandering through well-known antique areas like Portobello Road in London and Nashville's Music Valley Antiques Show. But what exactly does she buy when she heads into an antique destination?
Continuing in her diary entry, Swift details what she purchased on her antique trips in both Saskatchewan and Winnepeg, Canada, and revealed that old mason jars were her top purchase of choice. Why? Swift likes to turn them into candle holders, which she most likely places dreamily around whatever house she's living in at the moment.
"I bought old scales and watch faces and chairs and old trunks and a bird cage and two lamps," she also revealed of that specific trip.
Antiquing isn't just a way for Swift to find cool things for her personal use, either. It's also a way to create memories with the people she loves the most, including her mother. In another diary entry dated July 12, 2009, Swift documents the"perfect" day she had with her mother.
"Today was just me and my mom driving around, looking at antiques in little antique shops talking about what chandelier should go in the foyer and if this cabinet would look right in the guest room," she wrote.
How do you get your hands on these diary entries, you might ask? If you purchase the exclusive deluxe version of the album from Target, you'll receive a a unique set of Swift's handwritten entries along with a ton of other things, like two bonus audio memos from Taylor's songwriting sessions, a poster, a lined, blank journal page, and a lyric book.
