Taylor Swift Fans Are Convinced New Song Is About Emma Stone

Taylor Swift is known for using her real life as inspiration for her songs, and one of the "From The Vault" tracks on Speak Now (Taylor's Version) has many fans theorizing that she wrote it about none other than Emma Stone.

The newly-released track called "When Emma Falls in Love" is about a girl named Emma and her many ups and downs of romance. It's written from Swift's point of view as she appreciates Emma and looks up to her.

Because of the story in the song and the fact that Stone, 34, and Swift, 33, have been close friends for years now, fans surmised that the actress is the topic of the song.

The timeline also matches up, as Swift wrote all the songs on Speak Now (Taylor's Version) between 2008 and 2010, and the two women reportedly first became friends after meeting in 2008.

But some fans think the song is specifically about Stone's romance with Andrew Garfield. The two were a beloved celebrity couple, and many Swifties think they found specific connections between lyrics and things Garfield said about their romance.

For example, one fan passionately wrote, "TAYLOR SWIFT SAID SHE’S THE KIND OF BOOK THAT YOU CAN’T PUT DOWN WHILE ANDREW GARFIELD ONCE SAID I’LL WRITE A BOOK ONE DAY ABOUT HOW I FEEL ABOUT EVERY ASPECT OF EMILY STONE WHEN EMMA FALLS IN LOVE IS ABOUT STONEFIELD IS ABOUT EMMA STONE."

Another tweeted a photo of Swift, Taylor Lautner, and Lautner's wife (also named Taylor) recreating a famous Spider-Man: No Way Home meme, taking this as a sign from the singer that the song refers to Garfield, who played the superhero character between 2012 and 2014.

They exclaimed, "THIS PHOTO AND HER SAYING WHEN EMMA FALLS IN LOVE IS ABOUT HER BEST FRIEND THIS IS CONFIRMATION ITS EMMA STONE AND ANDREW GARFIELD."

While anything's possible, it's more likely that the three recreated the meme to reference that they're all named Taylor.

Others pointed out that Stone and Garfield started dating in 2011, after the song was supposedly written, leading them to guess that Swift wrote it about Stone's romance with actor Kieran Culkin, whom she dated for some time between 2009 and 2011.

Of course, there's also the possibility that the song is simply about Swift's friendship with Stone and doesn't reference a specific real-life romance.

After Speak Now (Taylor's Version)'s release, Swift played "When Emma Falls in Love" during her Kansas City concert and confirmed that the song is about one of her best friends. In addition, the track's lyrics are almost a love letter to "Emma," and the last line reads, "Sometimes I wish I was her."

One fan found a clip of an interview from when Swift was promoting the original Speak Now album and was asked who she would be if she could be anyone else for a day.

Her response? "I would be Emma Stone, she's one of my really, really good friends."

But until Swift explains exactly what the song is about, fans are left to wonder.
