How Taylor Swift Has Helped Travis Kelce's Career Reach New Heights
Taylor Swift; Travis Kelce
There's no power quite like Swiftie power.
Even though Travis Kelce was already a star athlete and two-time Super Bowl winner by the time he met girlfriend Taylor Swift, he's not afraid to admit that the "Anti-Hero" songstress has flown him to places he's never been, in terms of fame.
The football player opened up about the phenomenon in the latest episode of his and brother Jason Kelce's podcast New Heights, where it was revealed that NFL merch for each of the brothers has been booming in the U.K. recently.
Naturally, the Kansas City Chiefs tight end knew the only logical explanation for the rise in their jersey sales is his whirlwind romance with Taylor, who is known for having an army of loyal fans or "Swifties."
"A lot of Swifties over there in the U.K.?" asked Jason, 36, in the Wednesday, Dec. 13 episode of New Heights.
"There's gotta be," Travis, 34, replied, calling Taylor's fame the "only reasonable solution to all of this."
Even though the "Tayvis" media frenzy initially started with the relationship between Taylor and Travis, the fame has now been expanding to more members of the Kelce family, including Jason's wife Kylie Kelce and their three daughters: Wyatt, Elliotte and Bennett.
With their family's growing popularity, Jason's Philadelphia Eagles jerseys have also seen an increase in sales, trailing just behind his brother. The dad of three mused that it must be because "a lot of people in the U.K. maybe just don't watch football and they're like 'oh, I heard this Kelce guy is dating Taylor Swift and they just buy my jersey on accident," which elicited a laugh from Travis.
However, Travis had a perfectly reasonable explanation, stating, "No, they're all Kylie Kelce fans," before showing love to both the women: "Shoutout to Kylie, shoutout to Taylor. Thank you guys."
