Taylor Swift and Joe Alwyn Reportedly Split After 6 Years Together

The 'Lavender Haze' singer's love story with the actor has come to an end.

Joe Alwyn is Taylor Swift's "Lover" no more.

On April 8, it was reported that the "Anti-Hero" artist and The Favourite actor have called it quits after six years together.

According to Entertainment Tonight, the breakup—which reportedly took place a few weeks ago—was an amicable one, with a source noting that it "was not dramatic."

This is apparently why Alwyn, who has kept his relationship with Swift mostly private, has not been at her headline-making Eras tour. As for why the love story ended? The publication was told that "the relationship had just run its course."

This update comes almost six months after Swift dropped her tenth studio album, Midnights, in which Alwyn served as a muse for the opening track, "Lavender Haze."

Swift explained to her fans that the anthem's title was inspired during a Mad Men binge-watch, stating, "I thought it sounded cool, and it turns out that it was a common phrase that was used in the '50s where they would just describe being in love."

She continued, "Like, if you were in the 'Lavender Haze,' that meant you were in that all-encompassing love glow, and I thought that was really beautiful."

Swift noted that she related to the phrase, sharing, "You'll do anything to stay there and not let people bring you down off of that cloud...Like my relationship for six years, we've had to dodge weird rumors, tabloid stuff and we just ignore it. This song is sort of about the act of ignoring that stuff to protect the real stuff."

Swift and Alwyn first began dating in 2016 but kept it under the radar for some time following her other highly publicized relationships. Alwyn even noted in a 2018 interview with British Vogue, “I’m aware people want to know about that side of things. I think we have been successfully very private and that has now sunk in for people."

This explains why Alwyn quietly collaborated with Swift on several of her songs—"champagne problems, "Sweet Nothing," and "betty," among others—using the alias William Bowery.

While Swift may be single now, we're confident that she's still bejeweled.

Stay tuned for more updates.
