21-year-old fashion student looks just like Taylor Swift — and even the pop star is 'impressed'
Lotte Lutjes has recreated 25 Taylor Swift outfits. But what really makes the 21-year-old’s ensembles standout is her uncanny resemblance to the pop star.
Lutjes has been a proud fan for over a decade, and she started designing elaborate costumes back in 2014 when she and a group of friends went to see the singer in concert. “Our plan was to wear an outfit that she also wears on tour, but we couldn’t really buy those anywhere,” Lutjes explain. “So we thought, ‘Let’s just make it ourselves.’”

Armed with her very own sketches, a sewing machine and lots of sequins and beads, the self-taught fashion student tries to wear one of her creations every time she sees Swift perform live — which has been 16 times so far. Her favorite outfit? A replica of the green “Reputation” tour jacket that took over 60 hours of work, complete with a snake patch she did by hand.
Fellow Swifties have taken to her Instagram account @teatimetay13 to not only marvel at her designs but also comment on how much the two look alike. “My boyfriend thought you were Taylor at first glance,” wrote one individual. While another chimed in saying, “You are so talented you should be the clothing manager of Taylor.”
Having ash blond hair, plus the perfect cat eyeliner and red lipstick just like Swift doesn’t hurt either, as Lutjes says she does full glam like her muse when she takes outfit pictures. It’s even caught the attention of Swift herself, who commented on a side-by-side photo, “You made this?!?? So impressed!!! Love it so much.”
“Hearing from her that I did a good job making the outfit that’s, of course, one of the coolest things you can hear,” says Lutjes.
However, needlework and fashion has had a much bigger impact on Lutjes’s life. She has a neurological disorder known as Charcot-Marie-Tooth (CMT) disease that causes nerve damage. It makes it difficult for her to stand or walk for long periods of time, and she often uses a wheelchair to get around.
“Learning how to sew and make this stuff has actually helped me gain more confidence. My body may not work with me in some areas but at least I know I’m capable of doing this and making beautiful things,” says Lutjes, “and feeling good and looking good... actually I’m really grateful for that.”
