Taylor Swift and Matty Healy Reportedly Split After Whirlwind Romance
It’s over between Taylor Swift and Matty Healy.
TMZ is reporting that the singers have broken up.
A close friend confirmed to the outlet that Swift is “single” again, though no additional information was provided as to what led to the split a mere month after their romance made headlines.
Swift and Healy’s whirlwind relationship came on the heels of her split with longtime love Joe Alwyn, whom she dated for six years. As for why the love story ended? Entertainment Tonight was told that "the relationship had just run its course."
Shortly after, the "Lavender Haze" songstress was spotted with Healy on multiple occasions, including holding hands while double dating with friends and leaving the 'Electric Lady' recording studio. He even attended three of her Eras Tour shows.
Before the split was announced, fans began to speculate their relationship status as the The 1975 frontman was spotted kissing a security guard while performing in Denmark this past weekend. Locking lips with audience members during his shows has been part of his intimate onstage antics for quite some time, though he made sure not to do it when Swift was in attendance during a surprise appearance at his London show in January.
The pop star's short-lived relationship with Healy—who she’s been friends with since she was 14—also wasn’t without controversy as he was called out for making derogatory comments about Ice Spice, who recently collaborated with Swift on a remix of "Karma."
During an appearance on The Adam Freidland Show, Healy, alongside the podcast host and co-host Nick Mullen, cracked jokes about the rapper’s body and mocked Chinese and Hawaiian accents while speculating about her ethnicity.
Months later—with his relationship with Swift in the public eye and her collab with the rapper making waves—Healy apologized to a crowd during his show in Auckland, New Zealand, stating, “I just feel a bit bad, and I’m kind of a bit sorry if I’ve offended you. Ice Spice, I’m sorry. It’s not because I’m annoyed that me joking got misconstrued. It’s because I don’t want Ice Spice to think I’m a d--k. I love you, Ice Spice. I’m so sorry.”
Swift has avoided commenting on the controversy, simply singing Ice Spice's praises and explaining what inspired their recent collaboration, one some fans view as "damage control."
