Taylor Swift’s Record Engineer Opens Up About What It’s Really Like to Work With the Pop Star

Taylor Swift’s recording engineer, Laura Sisk, had some lovely words for the “Blank Space” singer while accepting an award earlier this week for her work in the music industry.
Sisk praised both Swift and Lana Del Rey in her acceptance speech at the nonprofit We Are Moving the Needle’s very first Resonator Awards on Jan. 30. Sisk attended the awards show to accept the Exceptional Ears Award from producer Jack Antonoff, who has been a years-long friend and collaborator to both Sisk and Swift.
During her acceptance speech, Sisk said both Swift and Del Rey “have been a huge source of inspiration to me as we worked together and got to know each other.” Sisk later shared a portion of her tribute to the two musicians on Instagram Stories.
Swift specifically has provided Sisk with “endless inspiration,” the recording engineer said. “She’s truly one of a kind in her work ethic.”

Sisk began collaborating with Swift for the pop star’s 2014 album 1989 and has continued working with the “Shake It Off” songstress through her more recent rerecording projects, which Sisk said has presented an “incredible engineering challenge,” according to The Hollywood Reporter. Those rerecords have been “exercising a completely different part of my brain,” Sisk said.
Swift began rerecording her early albums in late 2020, following a dispute over the ownership of her masters. When she was blocked from purchasing her back catalogue, Swift started releasing new versions of the material, dubbed “Taylor’s Version,” and urged her fans to support her plight by listening to those newer recordings instead of the originals.
Swift’s most recent release of a rerecorded album was 1989 (Taylor’s Version), which she dropped last fall. However, fans have begun speculating that she might be preparing to announce the rerelease of her 2017 album Reputation, a theory that Swift appeared to fuel through the hairstyle she sported while attending last weekend’s Kansas City Chiefs-Baltimore Ravens AFC Championship game in support of her boyfriend, Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce.
Despite the widespread speculation among Swifties, Swift herself has yet to announce release plans for Reputation (Taylor’s Version).
