Taylor Swift ‘Swag Surfin’ at Chiefs Game Leaves Fans Declaring She ‘Found Her Tribe’
Taylor Swift attends the AFC Wild Card Playoffs between the Miami Dolphins and the Kansas City Chiefs at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium on Jan. 13, 2024, in Kansas City, Mo.
Taylor Swift’s dance moves during Saturday night’s Kansas City Chiefs game against the Miami Dolphins has caught the attention of fans who are thrilled that the pop star appears to have “found her tribe.”
Swift, who is dating Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, was spotted on Jan. 13 dancing along to “Swag Surfin’,” a 2009 song by the hip hop group Fast Life Yungstaz. In a video posted by one fan on Instagram, Swift leans from side to side as she dances along to the music, which can’t be heard over the loud cheers of the crowd in the clip. Travis’ mom, Donna Kelce, is seated next to her.
The entire group within Swift’s box appears to be dancing along with her—and fans seemed to love it.
“The whole box was swag surfing,” wrote the person who posted the video.
“Love that Mama Kelce is swagging too!” one fan commented.
“Taylor dancing like no one’s watching. Keep surfing Tay,” wrote another.
“I think she’s found her tribe. (Pun very much intended),” one fan commented, a reference to the Chiefs’ name.
Travis discussed the song’s importance to his team earlier this year while recording an episode of New Heights, the podcast he co-hosts with his brother, Jason Kelce. Jason, a center for the Philadelphia Eagles, asked Travis why Chiefs linebacker Willie Gay had requested the song during a recent game.
Kelce said “Swag Surfin’” is “a huge fourth quarter big-time moment, big-time drive in the game for our defense.” The song helps to “get everybody fired up for when their offense has to go back out on the field,” he added.
“The ‘Swag Surfin’ did exactly what [Gay] wanted it to do, and that was make that stadium feel like chaos, man, and get the energy on the sidelines going again,” Travis said.
Swift has attended several Chiefs games since rumors of her romance with Kelce began swirling last fall. Her fans have widely embraced Kelce and his team, with many speculating about when the couple might take the next step in their relationship.
Some fans have questioned whether the couple might be planning to get engaged sometime soon. However, a source close to Swift and Travis recently told Us Weekly that the couple has “no plans on getting engaged this summer.”
“Things between them are going amazing, but they haven’t even been together for a year yet and still have so much to learn about each other,” the unnamed source said.
