Teachers reject Betsy DeVos' appreciation video: 'Thank me by resigning'
Education Secretary Betsy DeVos, who told teachers to protest pay and school conditions on "adult time," took to Twitter to share a video of herself praising educators for National Teacher Appreciation Week.
America is blessed to have many great teachers. They dedicate their time, effort, and talents in service of their students.

"This week is National Teacher Appreciation Week," DeVos said. "What a wonderful opportunity it is to reflect on all that teachers do for the success of their students. My mom was a public school teacher. She helped her students grow and laid a foundation for their lifelong learning."
DeVos, in the past, has called public schools a "dead end” and bankrolled a private school voucher measure in Michigan, which the public voted against. DeVos then spent millions helping to elect legislators who cut public school budgets and helped spread for-profit charter schools throughout the state.
"And I'll always remember Mr. Ron Pothoven my high school government teacher. He helped me develop an interesting in civics and in public policy. America is blessed to have many great teachers," Devos went on to say. "They dedicate their time, effort, and talents in service of their students. Our country is better because of them. During this National Teacher Appreciation Week, be sure to take a moment and thank a teacher who has made a big impact in your life."
In response, multiple public school educators, and those who support them, asked for one gift this magical National Teacher Appreciation Week — for her to resign.
You’re right, there are a ton of amazing teachers who do great things for kids!! Unfortunately, we have an awful government in this country that only values money and power, which is why you’re in office, sad. You need to understand the value in public education change your views

You neither appreciate nor value public education and public school teachers. Your “thank you” rings quite hollow. Resign and we will thank you.

A raise and your resignation would be the best thank you ever.
