Young children playing in their home were sprayed with water from an outside hose by a teen yelling, “F***ing Somalians.”

As written in a criminal complaint sent to Yahoo Lifestyle by the Faribault Police Department in Minnesota, 18-year-old Zachariah Joseph Manahan was charged with stalking because of bias, damage to property and disorderly conduct.

According to the Minneapolis Star-Tribune, police chief Andy Bohlen said Manahan’s “offensive and boisterous conduct” is “disturbing, and his picking on people certainly justified the charges.”

On Saturday, Manahan aimed a garden hose (connected to a pressure washer in his home) at the open windows of a Somali-American family’s house yelling, “F***ing Somalians” and “B**** Somalians.” A 15-year-old girl told police that Manahan sprayed her and her siblings three times that day, drenching their furniture, a rug, items of clothing and the walls of their home, which included an upstairs room.

Manahan told police that he only meant to wash the top of his fence — not his neighbors — but the complaint notes that the family’s open window was higher than the fence, suggesting that Manahan took careful aim at their home.

Manahan was taken into custody at Rice County Jail. The young man reportedly had a court date on Wednesday.

Manahan’s attorney Stephen Ecker did not return an interview request from Yahoo Lifestyle and Manahan’s family members declined to comment when reached by Yahoo Lifestyle.

According to the Manahan’s Facebook page, his job is newspaper deliverer for the Faribault Daily News, which covered the story.
