How can the workplace work better for women? Join the Telegraph's summit tomorrow for a day of debate

Top British businesswomen and leading female voices including Dame Helena Morrissey, Mary Portas, and Allison Pearson will join a day of action, debate and networking to look at ways the workplace can work better for women and how female entrepreneurs can get a better deal.

Since The Telegraph launched its campaign calling on politicians to take action and redress the stark imbalance in financing for female startups, the Government has ordered the first ever serious review into the funding gap preventing women from becoming business leaders in Britain.

After 200 entrepreneurs and MPs signed an open letter to Government, the Treasury pledged to examine the challenges facing female entrepreneurs, and are set to produce a report later in the year which will be a "call to arms" for the British business.

Now, The Telegraph is bringing together 250 women with high profile speakers and female founders in a one-day work summit on October 31st at the Hilton, Bankside, in London.

Designed to empower and connect women who work or want to get back to work, women who want to start a business and those who are already founders, with those at the very top of their industry, the day will provide opportunities to listen to inspiring speakers debate the issues facing every woman in the workplace today, the chance for entrepreneurs to network with venture capitalists, and to take part in workshops around key areas where women encounter barriers.

Speakers will include a broad range of voices, from Nuala Walsh, vice chair of UN Women, to the presenter Mishal Husain and best selling business author Emma Gannon with many more still to be announced.

A series of panel discussions chaired by Telegraph journalists such as Elizabeth Day and Women's editor Claire Cohen will showcase a range of viewpoints to create lively debates around the cultural, social and political barriers women face at work.
