Raise your hand if you were immediately addicted to Tell Me Lies when it dropped on Hulu this fall (and, JSYK, even though you can't see them, there is now a sea of raised hands across the internet).
TBH, we knew we were going to be hooked on the show the second we heard Hulu was adapting Carola Lovering’s incredible novel, but watching Grace Van Patten and Jackson White bring Lucy and Stephen's tumultuous love story to life was beyond what we could have imagined. Now that Tell Me Lies has officially been renewed, we're officially collecting all available intel about season 2, so scroll on for everything we know about the show's second season (so far).
When will Tell Me Lies season 2 premiere?
Although Hulu has confirmed that Tell Me Lies is happening, they have not offered any clues about *when* it will be ready for our eyeballs. Alas. Here's Hulu's official IG post announcing the renewal, in case you can sleuth out any deeply, deeply hidden clues about the season 2 drop date:
FWIW, news that Hulu had green lit season 1 came in August 2021 and the show premiered a little over a year later, so if the timeline stays similar, we're probably looking at an early 2024 premiere for season 2. ˉ\_(ツ)_/ˉ
What is the plot of Tell Me Lies season 2?
The first season of Tell Me Lies was, in showrunner and executive producer Meaghan Oppenheimer's words "an exploration of toxic relationships and the ways we undermine ourselves when we fall for the wrong people."
"When Lucy meets Stephen she sees all the red flags, but she ignores them—and it sets her down a path that completely derails her," she explained in a comment via email for Cosmo ahead of season 1.
Since season 1 ends with [vague spoilers ahead] Stephen betraying Lucy, Oppenheimer has hinted that, in season 2, our leading lady might make like Taylor Swift and start dressing for revenge.
"I think there will be some revenge plots in Season 2," she told TVLine after the season 1 finale. "I don’t think that she can tell people about him being in the car because he made it so clear to her that if she were to tell that, she also have to admit all these other things, and I don’t think she’s at a place where she’s willing to risk that social annihilation and admit how badly she behaved, especially now that she’s seen that it wasn’t even worth it. Like, 'I did all these things. I covered up for this guy. I lied and I hurt other people for someone who just walked out of a party with his ex-girlfriend.' It’s almost too humiliating for her, and she’s too guilty herself."
We'll update this post as more info about Tell Me Lies season 2 becomes available.
