It's typical for students to spend the majority of their days with teachers during the school year — so long that they may feel like a second parent. And when a teacher cares, they can make such a difference in our lives that we never forget them.
So, I want to know: how did a teacher have a positive impact on your life?
Did your 7th grade English teacher lend you her favorite books to encourage you to keep writing when no one else took your work seriously, and now you're on your path to becoming a published author?
Perhaps your high school history teacher was the first person to not accept anything less than your full effort in their classroom, and you honed a work ethic that followed you into adulthood?
Or could it be that your high school drama teacher cast you as a lead in the school play at a time when you had low self-confidence, and the experience encouraged you to break out of your shell and pursue a career in the entertainment industry.
Did you have an Asian American Studies professor in college who introduced you to a whole new side of your culture that you didn't learn in elementary school, which inspired you to become a teacher yourself?
Or maybe your algebra teacher simply opened up their classroom during their own lunch break so that you wouldn't feel alone in the cafeteria, and you're still friends on Facebook to this day.
