Actress Linda Hamilton has just revealed that she hasn't had sex in "at least 15 years," maybe even longer, and that she is thriving while celibate. In a recent interview with the New York Times, Hamilton spoke about how she is thriving in her "spartan," "authentic" and distinctly non-Hollywood life in New Orleans.

"I love my alone time like no one you’ve ever met," she said. "I’ve been celibate for at least 15 years. One loses track, because it just doesn’t matter — or at least it doesn’t matter to me. I have a very romantic relationship with my world every day and the people who are in it."

Hamilton joked that the only way she would even consider getting married again is if the proposal came from the painter Kehinde Wiley — her favorite artist. She divorced Terminator 2: Judgement Day director James Cameron in 1999, an experience that was painful but ultimately transformative: "When I broke up with Jim, I was completely devastated for years... But I’m so glad to be free of that. I would never, ever put that much energy again into something that is not working."

While her relocation to New Orleans followed a career slow-down in the mid-2000s, Hamilton is now returning to Hollywood, reprising her most iconic film role: gun-toting, robot-killing badass Sarah Connor, in the upcoming Terminator: Dark Fate. It's been nearly 30 years since she last appeared on-screen in the franchise, and Hamilton admitted that, having been granted some distance from showbiz, she felt some reticence before taking a part in the new movie.

"That was my hesitation," she said. "Do I want to trade this lovely, authentic life for that? I didn’t want my neighbors looking at me differently. We’re neighbors because of who we are, not what we do, and I don’t want that to creep into my life again."

Ultimately, the chance to play the character again (and work with her friend Arnold Schwarzenegger one more time) won out. Terminator: Dark Fate is released on October 25.
