Terminator's Linda Hamilton Revealed She's Been Celibate for "at Least 15 Years"
Linda Hamilton revealed in a New York Times article that she has been celibate for more than 15 years.
The actress is reprising her role as Sarah Conner in the sixth Terminator film, decades after she starred in the original’s sequel.
Hamilton also dished about her past marriage to Titanic helmer James Cameron.
Terminator heroine Linda Hamilton is getting candid about her sex life. In an interview with The New York Times, the 62-year-old actress revealed that it’s been more than a hot minute since she’s been intimate with another person. Celibacy, though traditionally reserved for devoutly religious practices, is a choice. And it’s one Hamilton isn’t ashamed to get behind.
“I love my alone time like no one you’ve ever met,” Hamilton said to the Times. "I’ve been celibate for at least 15 years. One loses track, because it just doesn’t matter—or at least it doesn’t matter to me. I have a very romantic relationship with my world every day and the people who are in it.”
The Chuck alum went on to discuss that her return to the iconic role of Sarah Connor decades after starring in the original film’s sequel was a tough decision for her to make. “I didn’t want my neighbors looking at me differently.” This November, Terminator: Dark Fate will also reunite Hamilton with the OG of “Hasta la vista, baby,” Arnold Schwarzenegger.
Hamilton said she was contacted by James Cameron, the filmmaker behind the original Terminator and writer of the forthcoming sixth film in the franchise. Cameron is also one of Hamilton’s exes. She was married to the mega-producer for two years before they split in 1999.
“When I broke up with Jim, I was completely devastated for years,” Hamilton said, who was previously married to actor Bruce Abbott for seven years. “But I’m so glad to be free of that. I would never, ever put that much energy again into something that is not working.”
It’s clear putting in the work to reprise her role as Sarah Conner was well worth it. The project required the actress to get back into shape to tote the heavy machinery the character does in the film. “This was 10 times the effort I put into the second one,” she said.
