Thanksgiving Trailer Teases Holiday Nastiness

Upcoming horror film Thanksgiving has got its first trailer - and it’s looking like a massacre.

It’s next in director Eli Roth’s long line of shocking horror films, following in the footsteps of Hostel (2005), Cabin Fever (2002), and Grindhouse (2007). He’s not had a hit of the same calibre for a good 15 years, so there are high hopes for Thanksgiving.

It’s a different cultural landscape now though, and we’ve been blessed with a barrage of incredible genre classics since, including the likes of Talk to Me, It Follows, The Babadook, The Witch, and Midsommer. There are also plenty of promising horror films to look forward to. In particular, The Exorcist: Believer terrifies with its new trailer.

Thanksgiving will need to compete with all of them if it wants to stand out. The trailer looks entertaining, however: at one point someone gets their face smashed into a freezer door, which they then have trouble removing due to their tongue being frozen to it.

According to the official synopsis: “After a Black Friday riot ends in tragedy, a mysterious Thanksgiving-inspired killer terrorizes Plymouth, Massachusetts – the birthplace of the infamous holiday.”

Written and produced by Eli Roth, the film stars Patrick Dempsey, Addison Rae, Milo Manheim, Jalen Thomas Brooks, Nell Verlaque, Rick Hoffman, and Gina Gershon. It hits cinemas 17 November, and you can watch the trailer below.
