'That's not how #MeToo works lady': Kellyanne Conway slammed for congratulatory Kavanaugh tweet
On Saturday, shortly after Brett Kavanaugh was sworn in as an associate judge on the Supreme Court, Kellyanne Conway shared her congratulations on Twitter.
Accompanying a photo of the 53-year-old Kavanaugh, who was confirmed in a 50-48 Senate vote following a tense battle, with his two young daughters, Liza and Margaret Kavanaugh, Conway, a counselor to the president, wrote, “Your refusal to quit amidst the bullying, harassment, insults and lies is a great lesson to our children.” She added, “Millions of women are thrilled you are on the Court. #metoo.”
Congratulations to Associate Justice of the United States Supreme Court Brett Kavanaugh, and to his family.
Your refusal to quit amidst the bullying, harassment, insults and lies is a great lesson to our children.
Millions of women are thrilled you are on the Court. #metoo 💃🏼 pic.twitter.com/eitmyQ8cZh

Conway’s use of #metoo, a movement re-energized after the Harvey Weinstein allegations emerged in October 2017 that saw people sharing their sexual assault stories on social media, was widely criticized.
What does #MeToo have to do with Kavanaugh, Ms. Conway?

When you are a woman and don't understand what #metoo stands for. #NewLevelOfStupidity https://t.co/p1gdN0vw63

Ironic that you used the metoo hashtag… Are you hinting that he is really guilty of those sexual assault allegations??

That's not how #MeToo works lady. https://t.co/Q1QDZ5akvo

Yo Kell — the hashtag, you’re doing it wrong
— K David Currie (@kdavidcurrie) October 6, 2018
Co-opting that hashtag is a new low.
— Mary Connell (@voxconnell) October 7, 2018
If you can’t use the #metoo hashtag right, don’t use it at all. The #metoo movement is for those who choose to speak up about their trauma about sexual harassment, not to congratulate someone who was accused.

Please take this tweet down.
1. Leave the kids out of this.
2. Your use of that hashtag in relation to that man is disgusting.— Pea Dubs (@BoldHelvetica) October 7, 2018
I know you realize how insulting it is for you to use #metoo in a picture with a predator. It's very disrespectful to the multiple brave women who came forward. in fact I believe you are weaponizing it to hurt other women which is a bitch move. #ByeFelicia

Many also called her “millions of women” claim overblown.
I have many friend Repubs and Dems… not one is happy. Either angry at sexual assault or his temperment. So many more qualified candidates without baggage.

Millions of women will make sure he resigns or is impeached. WE ARE NOT HAPPY!!!
— Deep State Diva 13 (@Aidansmom062306) October 6, 2018
Who are you kidding? I don't know even one woman who is happy about this.

Last Sunday, on CNN’s State of the Union, Conway told Jake Tapper that she is a victim of sexual assault herself.
