The 1 Key Step for Emma Stone’s Glowing Skin
If you don’t believe in the power of a facial, you’ve never met Georgia Louise. With a celebrity clientele that boasts big Hollywood names such as Emma Stone, Isabelle Huppert, and Amy Schumer, Louise’s services are in high demand. You’ll find the beauty guru in her cozy Manhattan atelier tending to her clients’ skin — plumping, toning, and perfecting it in preparation for the Oscars, the most anticipated show of the awards season.
“There are just some celebrities who have to-die-for skin,” Louise tells Yahoo Beauty. “Cate Blanchett — she’s a timeless beauty and is someone that looks younger than her years. She really has paid attention to looking after her skin and staying out of the sun.” Then, of course, there’s Jennifer Lopez, who never seems to age. Louise says: “She is the only girl in Hollywood that keeps looking younger each year. Her secret is that she has weekly microcurrent treatments, and her muscles are so firm on her face, as well as the rest of her shapely body!”
Of course, all of us want radiant, red carpet-ready skin at home. Surprisingly, the one step most people mess up is perhaps the most obvious: a thorough cleansing.
“The most common mistake I see is that people do not cleanse the skin correctly and thoroughly. A lot of people use the wrong cleanser for their skin type,” says Louise. “Many people with an oily skin type overcleanse, therefore drying out the skin. The problem is, in turn, the skin produces more oil to make up for it, causing oily skin and clogged pores. Plus, people are not using facial oils in their daily skin-care routine.”
Facial oils can seem intimidating when you don’t know where to begin; however, it’s all about understanding your skin and what it needs.
“There are different oils you can use for your skin. Jojoba oil works for acne-prone skin, argan oil or coconut oil for dry skin, chamomile oil for sensitive skin, rose-hip seed oil for pigmentation, and marula oil for anti-aging, just to name a few.” The majority of these can be found at your local supermarket, vitamin shop, or beauty supply store.
So what’s the easiest way to start getting our skin glowing like an A-lister’s? It starts from the inside-out, according to Louise.
“Hydrate and keep a healthy diet that’s rich in antioxidants and fatty acids. Get plenty of beauty sleep. It’s important to always double cleanse with an emulsifying oil or oil-free precleanser, followed by the proper cleanser for your skin type. It’s important to then follow with a toner and appropriate serums, moisturizer, and SPF. Keeping the skin hydrated is very important, especially in the winter.”
