You’re About to See a Lot More of this Beauty Influencer

She’s already founded one of the most successful style blogs on the Interwebs and nabbed a spot on this year’s Forbes’ 30 Under 30 — but now Song of Style’s Aimee Song is about to pop up in your newsfeed a lot more often. The L.A.-based beauty influencer just inked an ambassador contract with makeup brand Laura Mercier worth a reported $500,000, according to WWD.

The blogger has paired with SK-II and Dolce & Gabbana fragrances in the past, but when Laura came calling, Song says the opportunity to team up with one of her favorite cosmetic brands was simply a “no-brainer.” She is particularly drawn to the company’s approach to beauty.
“There are so many things I’ve wanted to change about my looks,” Song tells Yahoo Beauty. “When I was growing up, it took so long for me to finally accept myself for who I am physically and mentally. With the help of makeup to highlight rather than cover up my flaws, I’ve been more comfortable showing off my features — and I love that Laura Mercier is about enhancing one’s natural beauty rather than changing someone’s look.”

Song says Laura’s products have long been staples in her makeup arsenal, especially the Tinted Moisturizer ($44) and Radiance Primer ($36). “But the Rose Nourishing Oil is my new favorite,” she says. “I’m already on my second bottle! I use it right before I put moisturizer and makeup on. I massage it onto my face. It’s so relaxing and has really helped my skin.”

Although she’s far from a beauty novice (as far as we’re concerned), Song says she’s already been downloading loads of information in her new role. “Every time I meet with Laura and her team, I leave with new tricks of the trade,” she says. “I’m very excited for all the new and compelling content we will be creating together.”

Song’s deal is set to last a year, under which she will not only serve as Laura Mercier’s brand ambassador, but also work with the cosmetic company to create posts for her blog and her Instagram account, as well as rep Laura Mercier at industry events. The partnership doesn’t prohibit Song from working with most other beauty brands, leaving a huge part of a blogger’s authority intact.
“I’m super grateful to be working with a brand that I’ve always admired,” Song says. “The fact that more brands are recognizing the influence of bloggers is great. It’s not just great for me, but for everyone in the industry. I know so many bloggers that spend so much time and effort in creating content. Additionally, it’s taken us years to cultivate a following that trusts us and our expertise. It’s great to be recognized for all the hard work.”
And it’s paying off in spades. In addition to her new brand ambassadorship, Song says her next project is coming to Instagram (and her 3.4 million followers) in the fall. She’s hesitant to reveal too many details, but promises it’ll involve some of her favorite brands.
“More soon,” she says coyly. We’ll be watching.
