The Way Kendall Jenner Accessorized Her Chanel Suit Is Really Surprising
Kendall Jenner was precociously pretty in pink for her Valentine’s Day appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon last night. But while the model, who took a break from the choreographed chaos that is New York Fashion Week to talk modeling and photography with the late night host, wore a classic Chanel suit for the appearance, her choice of accessories was far from standard.
To begin with, Jenner paired the quintessentially demure skirt suit with a white, midriff-baring crop top that showed off her tiny tummy — a part of the body that doesn’t traditionally make an appearance when one is suited up, but, hey, it wasn’t sheer, so consider her conservatively covered up. (Revealing is relative, after all.)
Beneath that crop top, however, sat her most interesting addition: a gold body chain, dangling down in a single seductive line above her belly button before wrapping around her waist. The recently bobbed Jenner completed the one-of-a-kind look with a stack of chunky necklaces, including a choker with circular medallions also by Chanel, and simple nude heels, creating a bold style statement that managed to be at once stunningly classic and spectacularly modern.
Jenner, who walked in NYFW this season in a sheer dress for lingerie brand La Perla before headlining the “F is for Fendi” Fashion Week party and walking the runway for Alexander Wang, told Fallon the past few years of her life have been “a dream come true.” And part of maintaining that dream includes blocking out her famous family while on the runway. “I actually have a thing I’ve told myself since my first show: I never look at the audience, ever. If I do, it will mess me up,” she explained, before calling out one of her famous sisters by name. “Kylie sometimes, her and my mom sometimes, I can hear them screaming. Sometimes I smirk a little bit, but I can never look at them.”
Tricks of the trade.
