THEIA Fall 2017 Wedding Dress Collection
THEIA Fall 2017 Wedding Dress Collection
The temperature might be changing from cold to colder in New York City, but at THEIA's Fall 2017 Bridal Fashion Week show, things were warming up. Creative Director Don O'Neill swept away runway attendees into somewhat of an island paradise with the décor, and more importantly, the wedding dresses. Inspired by destination weddings, this season's THEIA bride "longs for warm sand between her toes and bright lagoon blue waters to form the perfect contrast to her white bridal gown."
The brand, which started in 2009, is known for using sheer fabrics and detailed appliqués to bring together an avant-garde look. THEIA is also famous for its bridal runway themes—from the Gatsby-era 1920s to the far away future years from now—and this season is no different. O'Neill expressed that he wanted to use this collection to go back to the beginning of the THEIA look: bohemian-chic and easy.
THEIA's tropical line is a relaxed, easy-breezy take on bridal. Models with beachy waves, flower crowns, and sun-kissed skin strutted down the runway to show off boho-chic wedding dresses covered in beach-inspired embellishments (like seashells!). You'll see a lot of off-the-shoulder gowns using embroidery like crystals and pearls. The easy-to-wear shapes range from mermaid to slip dresses to jumpsuits, each made from lightweight fabrics, like chiffon and silk, that capture a beautifully beachy bridal look.
