Thieves steal patient's truck from hospital while he recovers from stroke and heart attack
While a California man was in the hospital recovering from a stroke and a heart attack, his truck was stolen from the hospital parking lot. His family is now pleading for the thief to return the truck, as he was in the middle of moving and had most of his possessions in his vehicle.

“In his truck [were] all his clothes and medications he needs for his diabetes and other medications for his health problems,” reads a GoFundMe page Christopher McCarthy’s sister set up for him. “He needed his truck to get back and forth from doctor appointments and his upcoming surgeries in San Francisco.”
McCarthy’s white 2002 GMC Sierra Extended Cab was parked outside his room at Sierra View Medical Center in Porterville, Calif. so he could keep an eye on it while he recuperated. His sister, Patty McCarthy, told local broadcast station Fox 26 News that they saw the truck around 1 p.m. the day it was stolen, but by 5 it was gone.
The Porterville Police said in an email to Yahoo Lifestyle that it can’t release the police report while the investigation is still active.
“It’s easy to steal. I guess the gears — they can shave a key and get into anything,” Patty told Fox.
Sierra Medical Center reportedly has security cameras, but Patty said she was told they were having a problem with the computers, so the cameras might not have recorded the theft.
McCarthy is being transferred to a different hospital to get a stint and possibly a pacemaker, and his sister said losing his truck will make it much harder for him to get to other doctor appointments.
“That was his life. Everything,” Patty told Fox. “He has doctor appointments out of the area he needs to get to. And with no transportation, he can’t get there.”
