Things to do this August in Ross County

CHILLICOTHE — August is here which means school is on its way so between the Ross County Fair and school starting make sure you have as much fun as you can while summer is still hot at these upcoming events.

Ross County Fair

The Ross County Fair will be celebrating its 80th year and all are invited to visit the fairgrounds to ride fun rides, eat greasy food, watch animal contests and more. The fair starts on Aug. 3 and runs till Aug. 10, make sure to check out the official schedule to plan your day.

Car Shows

If you like cars August in Ross County has you covered with multiple car shows scheduled throughout the area. The shows are:

  • Walnut Creek Campground & Resort Car Show - Aug. 17

  • 44th Annual Rod Run & Car Show- Aug. 18

  • Pickaway Ross Career & Technology Center's 50th Anniversary Celebration & Car Show - Aug. 24

  • Bark in the Park- Aug. 31

Tecumseh

If you haven't been to Sugarloaf Mountain this season to see the story of Tecumseh your time is running out as the last show of the 2024 season is scheduled for Sept. 1.

BeachFest

The 300 tons of sand will turn downtown Chillicothe streets into a beach perfect for BeachFest and Sand in the Streets. BeachFest will take place from 7:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. on Aug. 23, there will be live music and sand toys to enjoy. After celebrating Friday night come back on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. to watch teams compete in the Sand in the Streets Volleyball tournament.

PRIDE Festival

This year will mark the 5th annual celebration of the Chillicothe Pride Festival on Aug. 24 in Yoctangee Park. The event features vendors, resources, live entertainment and special speakers. That night First Capital Pride Coalition will be hosting a drag show at the Elks Lodge.
