Things to do in Fond du Lac this week include Fourth of July at Lakeside Park, Celebrate Waupun and more

FOND DU LAC – Celebrate the Fourth of July with music, fireworks or a festival.

Fond du Lac will have a fireworks show July 4 while Celebrate Waupun runs June 28-30.

Also on July 4, the Kiwanis will host a softball game.

Other events include a night market and a farm-to-table dinner. Here's what's on tap.

Celebrate the Fourth with a concert, fireworks

To mark the Fourth of July, the Symphonic Band will hold its Americana Concert at 7:30 p.m. July 4 at Lakeside Park, 555 N. Park Ave.

The group will perform the music of American composers, patriotic favorites and American marches. The concert is followed by the Festival Foods Fireworks on the lakefront at dusk.

Night Market set for June 27 in downtown Fond du Lac

The next Downtown Fond du Lac Night Market, hosted by the Downtown Fond du Lac Partnership, is set to run 5 to 8 p.m. June 27.

This street market offers fresh produce, prepared foods, local artists and live music. Kids can play the outdoor games. The market is on Main Street from Division to Forest, and on Sheboygan Street from Main to Portland.

Celebrate Waupun to run June 28-30 at Tanner Park

Celebrate Waupun 2024 will be held June 28 to 30 at Tanner Park, 501 E. Spring St. The celebration opens at 4 p.m. June 28. Admission is free.

Some of the highlights include a fish fry, a Pier Pups show and water barrel fights on June 28. Live music will be provided by Remington’s Ride and Boogie & the Yo-Yoz.

June 29, the festival opens at noon. Included will be a carnival, bags tournament, an art zone and more. Live music begins at 3 p.m. with Saline Fiddlers Philharmonic, followed by Good Time Five and Rebel Grace.

June 30, the event begins with a car show, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Harris Mill Park. The carnival at Tanner Park opens at noon. Also included will be a kiddie pedal pull, a worship service and bingo. Live music includes That 90s Band and Haulin’ Brass.

The event ends with a fireworks show at about 9:30 p.m. June 30.

Enjoy a farm-to-table dinner June 28 at Thelma

The Farm Dinner will be 6 to 9 p.m. June 28 at Thelma Sadoff Center for the Arts, 51 Sheboygan St.

The Farm Dinner was created so community members could share a meal with the farmer who grew the food. The event begins with a cocktail hour at 6 p.m. with a family-style dinner served 7 to 9 p.m. Farmers and vendors will share their food as well as their stories including ways to find or support them.

Menu items include cheese and summer sausage, deviled duck eggs, pigs in a blanket, chicken salad, lamb meatballs, bison burgers, potato salad, bread and strawberry rhubarb galettes.

Ripon Kiwanis hosts community softball game July 4

The Ripon Noon Kiwanis will hold its first Community Softball game July 4 on the Diedrich Agency Field/Diamond 1 at Murray Park. The game will be 16-inch slow-pitch softball, open to participants ages 12 and older; no gloves required (but allowed).

Registration starts at 5 p.m., and the game will start at 6 p.m. Registration is $10 per player. Players may sign up individually or note if they’re signing up with family or friends and the Kiwanis will place them on the same team.

The Kiwanis will sell concessions during the game.
