Things to do in Oshkosh this week include Fourth of July parade and fireworks, Oshkosh Pride and more

OSHKOSH - From Fourth of July celebrations to movies at the Leach, there is something for the entire family to enjoy.

Also on tap are a weekly drum circle, Oshkosh Pride 2024 and wildlife education programs. Here are this week's things to do in the Oshkosh area.

Celebrate the Fourth with a parade, fireworks

Oshkosh will mark the Fourth of July with a parade and fireworks.

The parade begins at 9 a.m. July 4 at North Main Street and Otter Avenue. The route travels north, turning east on East Irving Avenue, ending at Menominee Park. The parade is hosted by Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 437.

A Fourth of July celebration will take place later that day at Menominee Park. Food trucks will be located throughout the park, and the Festival Foods fireworks will begin at approximately 9:45 p.m.

Connect with others through drum circle events

The Oshkosh Rhythm Institute hosts a weekly community drum circle each Wednesday, now through Aug. 28. The sessions are at 803 Waugoo Ave.

Community drum circles are family-friendly events where participants use hand drums and percussion instruments to connect and interact. All skill levels are welcome. Take your own drum, or some will be available to use. A $10 donation is recommended.

Free family movies shown at the Leach

Family Outdoor Movie Nights at the Leach begin June 28. Gates open at 6:30 p.m. with the movie at dusk.

The Oshkosh Parks Department hosts the free movie nights under the Leach Amphitheater, 303 Ceape Ave. Food trucks, bounce houses and face painting will all be part of the fun.

Movie-goers should take lawn chairs and blankets to sit on.

Films also will be shown July 26 and Aug. 23.

Oshkosh Pride welcomes entire family for games, music and more

An all-ages celebration, Oshkosh Pride 2024 will be held 2 to 7 p.m. June 29 at the Leach Amphitheater, 303 Ceape Ave. Admission is free.

Food and non-alcoholic beverages will be available for purchase, and free resources will be provided by various non-profits and mutual aid groups. Yard games, music, dancing, singing, speakers and performers will be included.

Educational program for youth held each Wednesday

Menominee Park Zoo holds a Wildlife Wednesday program each week through Aug. 28. The July 3 session runs 3 to 4 p.m. and will focus on Frogs and Turtles with Heckrodt Nature Center.

Wildlife Wednesdays is a free educational series open to the public. Program locations are posted at the zoo entrance.

The Menominee Park Zoo is open 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily and admission is free. The next session July 10 will feature Raptors with Jane Kelly.
