‘This Is Us’ Star Chrissy Metz Stresses Out Over Dresses, Hair, Shoes
Folks, it’s go time.
At least when it comes to the Oscars. The Academy Awards may take place Sunday night, but there are a slew of a parties leading up to the grand finale. On Thursday, celebs gathered at the second annual Cadillac Oscars soiree at the Chateau Marmont.
“It’s exciting, but there’s a lot to think about. What am I going to wear? How am I going to do my hair? What about the shoes? What about the jewelry? I know this is a first-world problem, but there’s a lot to think about,” revealed This Is Us’s Chrissy Metz, who is making the most of her first awards season. “I was sitting on my couch last Oscars. These are all the kinds of things that, as an actor, you always want to enjoy. This is the little cherry on top.”
On Thursday night, guests like Zoe Saldana, Naomi Watts, Michelle Dockery, and Patricia Arquette stepped out to celebrate this year’s nominees.
Inside the legendary venue, Watts and Oscar winner Christoph Waltz chatted in the courtyard, while nearby Saldana and her look-alike sister Cicely took in the scene from a velvet sofa. Saldana’s husband, Marco Perego-Saldana, never strayed far from his wife, and moments later the couple, who just welcomed their third child, made their way through the throng hand in hand in search of Saldana’s publicist.
Newlywed Matthew Morrison, who made an appearance sans wife Renee, had to emphasize that he was, in fact, not breaking news of a new addition to the family when he brought up creating a business for new dads called Sherpapa. “I’m hoping to get there, someday soon!” said the former Glee star. “I’m just trying something different there, and it’s been a really great year of connecting with my wife. I’ve been having a lot of fun this year.”
And stars are just like us — they get hungry too! Mad Men’s Ben Feldman made a dash for the hors d’oeuvres, only to burn his mouth on a pig in a blanket, while Moonlight writer-director Barry Jenkins lost the battle for the last slider on a tray. “Is it good?” he asked the woman who grabbed the tiny burger — the answer was a resounding, “Yes!” Jenkins was soon distracted by Morrison, who patted him on the shoulder and offered congratulations for his multiple Oscar nominations.
Out on the patio, Jessica Paré and husband John Kastner tried to sneak out behind a curtain, before realizing it was a dead end. They weren’t the only ones trying to make a discreet exit: The key to Oscar week is apparently pacing yourself.
“I think it will be an early night,” Saldana admitted on her way in. The big night, however, is when the actress will rally. “I’m going to try not to fall asleep, because obviously, now, with a full house of children, you’re sleepy by 7,” said Saldana. “But it’s an exciting night. We wait for it all year. We watched amazing performances, and I think that the culmination warrants for us to stay up later than usual.”
