‘Thought I looked neat’: Woman who wears shorts to job interview sparks online debate

(WJW) — She’s standing by her shorts.

A California woman, who recently went viral on TikTok for choosing to wear an outfit deemed inappropriate during a job interview for a tech company, recently told People she doesn’t regret her choice.

“I thought I looked neat. I said in my [TikTok] I would show up to an interview like this. I felt like the shorts were appropriate,” Tyreshia Morgan told the outlet. “The Internet kind of blew up after that.”

After being given the chance to go home and change by the job recruiter and come back for a second time, Morgan said she was glad she chose to end the interview there and move on.

The TikTok video of her explaining the situation has garnered 5.8 million views since being posted earlier this month. And it absolutely has sparked a debate over which attire is suitable for the workplace.

Many commenters said they would not hire Morgan.

“HR here … the fact they allowed you to change and have a redo says a lot. It would have been an immediate no here,” one poster wrote.

But still others said they didn’t see a problem with the choice.
