Thousands call for kids' party venue, Go Bananas, to shut down after parents go bananas in insane brawl
More than 4,000 people have signed a petition to shut down Go Bananas, a venue that has video games and rides and hosts children’s birthday parties, after a massive brawl broke out between adults.
The adults involved were staying true to the business’s name and went bananas in a fight, a video of which surfaced online. The video depicts several adults fighting each other underneath a banner that reads “Happy Birthday.” Now, an online petition has launched, urging for the “friendly oasis for you and your toddler to enjoy hours of fun” to be closed.
The fight, according to CBS Chicago, broke out with a baby just a few feet away. One woman wielded a mop, while another used a chair, as men wrestled on the ground.
“We have to come together as a community to do what we can to put an end to the amount of violence that is pouring into our neighborhoods, especially at a children’s facility,” the petition reads.
According to the Chicago Tribune, police have been called to the business a number of times since April 2015, including calls for battery, theft, counterfeit currency, and fighting.
“It’s not the kind of business we want to see in this community,” Norridge Mayor James Chmura told the Tribune. “We have our situations over there, but we’re confident the police are monitoring it.”
Chief David Disselhorst of the Norridge Police Department told CBS Chicago, “We’ve been there several times, multiple times.”
In 2011, Go Bananas made news when a 3-year-old boy fell from an indoor roller coaster and died.
Go Bananas did not immediately respond to Yahoo Lifestyle’s request for comment.
