Three hikes this month at Goodwin State Forest

HAMPTON — Enjoy three different types of hike this July at the Goodwin State Forest in Hampton.

Located at 23 Potter Road, the forest includes an educational center, a pond, an orchard, a native plant garden and acres of hiking trails through woodlands.

On July 14, staff naturalist Adam Drouin will lead a hike around the Pine Acres Pond Loop trail. The three-hour hike will start at 10 a.m. and cover more than five miles over some uneven terrain and hilly sections.

On July 23, another guided hike will be held to Governor’s Island, covering three miles in approximately two hours. The walk starts at 10 a.m.

On July 31, a guided night hike will be held to coincide with the forecasted Alpha Capricornids meteor shower. The three mile hike starts at 9 p.m.

Hikers should bring their own water and snacks, and, for the evening walk, flashlights or headlamps. Heavy rains will cancel all of the walks.
