Timberland Collaborations Over The Years: From Vans to Louis Vuitton
Timberland was founded in 1973 when a New England-based shoemaker, The Abington Shoe company, created the 8-inch boot. Nowadays, the outdoor footwear and apparel brand is easily remarked as one of the most versatile footwear sets.
In the 1990s, the brand took off when the 6-inch style gained heightened popularity during the rise of hip-hop. Starting as a working boot, the classic style has become a staple piece in the footwear industry, allowing them to gain noteworthy collaborations with top brands.

The company has an impressive history of collaborations including a broad reach from affordable brands like Vans and luxury fashion houses like Louis Vuitton and Jimmy Choo. Over the years, the iconic silhouettes have been seen everywhere from runways at Paris Fashion Week to the closet of many stars like Jay Z and Jennifer Lopez.
Here is a look at Timberland’s most noteworthy collaborations over the years.
Timberland x David X, 1998
In August 1998, David Z was one of the first to reinterpret Timberland’s classic boot. The collaboration, a stone grey version of the iconic nubuck silhouette, was exclusively sold at the retailer. The monochromatic set gained popularity during the time, with top hip-hop and rap stars like Jay Z and the entire Wu-Tang Clan being seen sporting the pair.
Timberland x Colette, 2009
Colette and Timberland collaborated on a limited-edition collection including a minimal reimagination of the 6-inch boot and a three-eye lug boat shoe. The Parisian boutique kept the popular beige upper but added a pop of color to the silhouettes with a blue collar, laces, and stitching. For the boot, there were only 40 pairs that were released in July of 2009.
Timberland x Stüssy, 2013
Timberland and Stüssy released three colorways of the footwear brand’s 6-inch boot for a fall 2013 collection. The nubuck silhouette, released in black, wheat and olive green, featured gold detailing on the eyelets and the Timberland logo just above the sole. A Stüssy logo sat at the top of the tongue, including black and blue stripes running through the intertwined double S emblem.
Timberland x Ronnie Fieg, 2013
For Timberland’s 40th anniversary, Ronnie Fieg created a fusion between the footwear brand’s 40 Below and Six-Inch boots. The nubuck style was released in three colorways, classic wheat, plum and auburn, with only 250 pairs of each sold exclusively at a Kith pop up shop in New York City. Each set is completed with Fieg’s logo embroidered just below the padded ankle collar.
Timberland x Villa, 2015
Just around Labor Day of 2015, Timberland and Villa collaborated on the Old Glory, an American-inspired reinterpretation of the classic 6-inch boot. The nubuck silhouette included a navy blue upper with a red panel along the outsole and collar, which featured a white stripe pattern. Retailed at $200, the patriotic set was completed with red, white and blue laces.
Timberland x Jimmy Jazz, 2015
In 2015, Timberland teamed up with Jimmy Jazz to launch the Helcor boot. Sold exclusively at the retailer, the all-black boots are composed of a texture upper that is waterproof, heat and abrasion-resistant. Retailed for $190, the lace up set was completed with a red Helcor tag, a contrasting metallic padded collar and a rubber outsole for traction and durability.
Timberland x Opening Ceremony, 2016
Timberland and Opening Ceremony collaborated in the fall of 2016 on the Convenience boot, a style inspired by America’s natural landscapes. For all four colorways including a burgundy set, the archived leather style had a leather panel on the sides of an elastic lacing system. The Opening Ceremony’s torch logo is featured on the tongue and on the custom hang tag.
Timberland x 21 Savage, 2016
In August 2016, 21 Savage partnered with Jimmy Jazz and Timberland on a new 6-inch boot style. The waterproof set featured a premium blue denim acid-washed upper and a black padded collar, matching the embroidered logo on the tongue and side of the shoe. The $200 boot was completed with a beige rubber midsole and the classic hiker laces.
Timberland x Nas, 2017
Nas partnered with Timberland in 2017 to create an exclusive Legends collection which was sold exclusively at Foot Locker Legends Club locations. Each of the four footwear styles was released separately. The collection featured details that mirrored the rap icon’s style like a velvet collar along the burgundy 6-Inch Port Field Boot and a ribbed heel on the FlyRoam Leather Sneakerboot.
Timberland x Grungy Gentleman, 2017
Timberland and Grungy Gentleman joined forces for a spring 2017 collection. Along with a reinterpretation of the Killington Oxford style, the brands updated the premium 6-inch boot to mirror the men’s lifestyle brand’s six-stripe signature design, which was seen on the top of the tongue and collar panel. The neutral set was completed with a black sole and laces.
Timberland x Off-White, 2018
Timberland and Off-White released a vibrant collection of 6-inch boots in May of 2018. The late Virgil Abloh replaced the nubuck material for velvet, colored in black, wheat, neon green and orange. The traditional hiker laces interrupt each monochrome colorway. Each set, retailed at $934, is completed with a rubber sole and a custom Off-White hang tag.
Timberland x Jimmy Choo, 2020
In 2020, Jimmy Choo’s glamorous aesthetic took on Timberland’s iconic boot. The collection included two versions of the 6-inch wheat boot — one with a Swarovski Crystal Collar and the other with gold glitter. A limited-edition boot completed the line with all-over Swarovski embellishment. Months before the release date, multi-hyphenate Jennifer Lopez was spotted on multiple occasions wearing the pair.
Timberland x Tommy Hilfiger, 2021
Timberland and Tommy Hilfiger created a capsule in 2021 inspired by their shared ‘90s heritage. The 17-piece collection included a classic Timberland 6-inch boot silhouette. Sitting in front of the lace up closure, a Tommy Hilifiger flag panel with a front zip detail. The shoes also featured a co-branded logo on the tongue and side of the nubuck upper.
Timberland x Bape, 2021
For fall 2021, Timberland teamed up with Bape to reimagine their 3-Eye Lug and Chukka boots. Both styles feature the footwear company’s signature wheat color in Bape’s signature camo print. The 3-Eye Lug style is designed with green laces and a two-toned color blocking with dark brown and blue hues. The Chukka boot differentiates with a star stripe overlay panel on the sides.
Timberland x Alife, 2021
Alife and Timberland took on the 3-Eye Lug Handsewn shoe for their 2021 collaboration. The pair was reimagined with two colorways, one with a burgundy leather upper and a mustard midsole. The other had an olive green nubuck upper with a chocolate panel around the lace-up closure. An embroidered Alife logo sat right above the thickened EVA midsole.
Vans x Timberland, 2022
The highly-anticipated Timberland and Vans collection released at the end of 2022. Along with other styles, the two brands meshed two of their styles to create the Half Cab Hiker, a half skate shoe and half hiking boot. Released in two colorways, the silhouette was made using canvas and leather that accompanied a padded leather collar and co-branded Vans/Timberland detailing.
Timberland x Pangaia, 2022
For their first collaboration, Timberland and Pangaia opted for a nature-focused collection in 2022. Included in the footwear range is the Fabric 6-Inch Boot, which retailed for $250. Dressed in bold colorways, the set was made using responsibly grown rubber, abaca plant fiber and organically grown cotton. Embracing the clean aesthetic, the brands added subtle flaps to cover the eyelets.
Timberland x Supreme, 2023
Timberland collaborated with Supreme to rework the 6-inch Premium Waterproof boot. Launched in three distinct colorways, the nubuck leather featured an all-over embossed pattern designed to mimic the texture of the tread plate. A small red Supreme logo sat against the center lining, just above the embroidered Timberland logo. Completing the set was a lace-up closure and contrasting rugged stitching.
Timberland x Edison Chen, 2023
For its 50th anniversary, Timberland created its Future73 initiative, a collective of six creatives and designers who reimagined the iconic Premium 6-Inch Boot. For the first drop, Clot’s founder, Edison Chen, designed an olive-colored silhouette with tiger print panels and an embossed Buddhist proverb, “If this exists, that exists; if this ceases to exist, that also ceases to exist.”
Timberland x Mowalola, 2023
For Mowalola’s fall 2023 collection, the designer worked with the footwear brand on two reinterpreted styles of the 6-inch boot that complimented her Dark Web collection on the runway. The first version was cast in dark gray denim with yellow fading around the edges. The second style featured a large “NY” lettering punched in perforations across the classic wheat upper.
Timberland x Kith, 2023
Kith and Timberland collaborated to reimagine the Field boot in December of 2023. Released in two exclusive colorways, the pair features Kith’s branded panels on the tongue and sides of the lace-up closure. The set was completed with custom fobs and a Kith dubrae. Although the two brands are frequent partners, this was Ronnie Fieg’s first time taking on the popular silhouette.
Timberland x Louis Vuitton, 2024
Timberland took over Paris Fashion Week with models at Louis Vuitton’s menswear fall 2024 show walking down the runway in a reinterpretation of the classic nubuck boot. The unreleased collection includes the traditional 6-inch boot with the French fashion house’s iconic monogram print along the collar and lining of the tongue. The line also includes a co-branded logo along the hangtag.
