Titanic:The Artifact Exhibition will bring 250 artifacts to Boston. Here's what to know

TITANIC: The Artifact Exhibition will allow visitors to experience being a passenger on the doomed ship through a display of historic artifacts taken from the ship's resting place at the bottom of the Atlantic Ocean.

The exhibit "has been viewed by more than 35 million people worldwide," and is one of the "highest attended (exhibitions) in history," according to The Gold Group of Boston, which is presenting the exhibition.

"Boston eagerly awaits our exhibition, which continues to set record-breaking attendance figures,” said Gautam Chandna, director of business development at E/M Group, which helped curate the exhibit along with RMS Titanic, Inc. “The exhibition's continued success, as demonstrated in city after city, speaks to its broad appeal and exceptional quality.”

What is the new 'Titanic' exhibit coming to Boston?

TITANIC: The Artifact Exhibition measures 15,000 square-feet and will "bring nearly 250 authentic artifacts from the wreck site of Titanic," according to a release.

It will also allow visitors to immerse themselves in what is was like to be on the ship before it sank on April 15, 1912.

"Visitors receive a replica boarding pass, assume the role of a passenger, and follow a chronological journey through life on Titanic. Walk the halls, explore the galleries, peer into cabins, and meet passengers and crew throughout the voyage," the release said.

Some of the artifacts on display will include:

  • Personal items: These include a workman's clothes, a postcard from Paris, and a necklace locket belonging to a Titanic survivor.

  • Objects used on the ship: These include a fragment of a first-class dish, a coat hook, a megaphone, and champagne bottles

  • Large piece of the ship: The exhibition has featured a 15-ton piece of the ship's hull at past exhibitions.

It will be in the city from Oct.17, 2024 to May 29, 2025.
