'Titanic' Movie Cast Then and Now: See Where The Stars of The Film Are Today
Titanic has maintained its status as one of the most celebrated films in history since its 1997 release. With a star studded cast that each individually gave stunning performances, it's no surprise that the movie received a total of 14 Academy Awards, winning 11, one being Best Picture. Here, take a look at the Titanic cast today, and what they're up to today!
The story of Titanic
Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet led the Titanic cast, and the widely celebrated film tells a story of a young couple's love despite coming from different worlds. Inspired by the sinking of the RMS Titanic, the story incorporated both historical and fictional elements. DiCaprio played the role of Jack, a poor, young artist who won his ticket on the ship's maiden voyage in a game of poker. Meanwhile, 17-year-old Rose, played by Kate Winslet, is aboard the ship with her wealthy soon-to-be-husband and widowed mother.
Rose's marriage is arranged for financial stability, and saddened by the lack of love between she and her fiancée, Rose intends to commit suicide by jumping over the stern railing of the ship. Discovered by Jack, he convinces her to come down and this initial meeting leads them down a path of a whirlwind romance, despite Rose being promised to another.
The two fall deeply in love despite coming from different worlds. When the ship collides with an iceberg, so begins the tragedy of the film as it sinks deeper into the freezing ocean and the two must navigate what's ahead of them.
In present day, an elderly and still-living Rose recalls her experience in flashbacks — and recalls all the treasures she found, and lost, on that fated voyage.
Titanic cast then and now
Kate Winslet as Rose DeWitt Bukater
After her role as Rose in Titanic, Kate Winslet's stardom only increased. Nominated for Best Actress at the Academy Awards, this was one of many nominations she would receive, and in 2009, she would take home the award for her role in The Reader.
After Titanic, she had notable roles in Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (2004), The Holiday (2006), Mare of Easttown (2021) and many more. To this day, she maintains a close relationship with her Titanic co-star, Leonardo DiCaprio.
Leonardo DiCaprio as Jack Dawson
After his role of Jack Dawson in Titanic, Leonardo DiCaprio cemented his status as a heartthrob and rose to become one of the most celebrated actors of the last two decades. Some of his most impressive works include Inception (2010), The Departed (2006), The Wolf of Wall Street (2013), The Great Gatsby (2013) and The Revenant (2019), for which he earned his first Academy Award. His most recent film was Martin Scorsese's Killers of the Flower Moon (2023). Off of the big screen, DiCaprio is a vocal environmental activist.
Billy Zane as Caledon Hockley
Billy Zane played Kate's villainous fiancée Caledon Hockley in the Titanic cast, and since his menacing role in the film, he's continued to act in various projects over the years. Prior to Titanic, he had roles in films such as Dead Calm (1989), The Phantom (1996) and Back to the Future (1985). After Titanic, you could see him in The Believer (2001), as well as shows like Charmed, Community and The Boys.
Kathy Bates as Molly Brown
Kathy Bates had an already established acting career prior to joining the cast of Titanic, having appeared in films such as Fried Green Tomatoes (1991) and Misery (1990), for which she won the Academy Award for Best Actress. After Titanic, she went on to star in films such as Midnight in Paris (2011), About Schmidt (2002), Richard Jewell (2019) and Revolutionary Road (2008), as well as numerous television roles in shows like American Horror Story and The Office.
Bill Paxton as Brock Lovett
Bill Paxton played Brock Lovett, one of the treasure hunters exploring the sunken Titanic. Prior to Titanic, Paxton appeared in films like The Terminator (1984), Aliens (1986) and Weird Science (1985). After the film, he found success with films like Edge of Tomorrow (2014) and the HBO series Big Love. Sadly, he passed away in 2017.

Most of her more notable roles came before Titanic, such as The Old Dark House (1932), The Invisible Man (1933) and Rebecca of Sunnybrook Farm (1938), however, the performance she gave in Titanic proved that age is just a number. In 2010, she passed away at the age of 100.

Sadly, he passed away in 2022.
