TLC has responded to the allegations of sexual misconduct against Carter Oosterhouse, in light of its revival of Trading Spaces. Oosterhouse, who first rose to fame as the star of the original Trading Spaces, was accused by a former employee, Kailey Kaminsky, who worked as a makeup artist on Oosterhouse's show Carter Can. Kaminsky stated that Oosterhouse repeatedly coerced her into performing oral sex on him during production in 2008, which she says ultimately led to her being hospitalized for depression and losing her job.

In a statement to The Hollywood Reporter, Oosterhouse stated that he had been in a consensual and "100 percent mutual" intimate relationship with Kaminsky. "I would have never done anything that I was not sure was mutually agreeable. The reality is that I knew it was consensual because she initiated it the first time and many of the 15 or so times ... thereafter."

Oosterhouse is returning to his starring role in TLC's ten-year reunion special of Trading Spaces, and speaking to reporters at the Television Critics Association Press Tour toady (January 12), TLC President Nancy Daniels responded to the allegations. "We did look into the allegations, we also looked into everything we did throughout our production on this run of Trading Spaces," Daniels said. "We take it all very seriously. At the end of the day, we feel comfortable continuing with Carter in the show."
