  • Savannah had to have retinal detachment surgery following an injury to her right eye in late November.

Today show’s Savannah Guthrie is all smiles in her latest Instagram post.

On Thursday, the NBC morning show co-anchor shared a few special photos of her Christmas celebration with her husband, Michael Feldman, and their two kids, Vale and Charley. The pictures featured Michael putting together what looks like a Hot Wheels track, Charley playing with a Hess toy truck, and the entire family posing together in matching striped pajamas.

“Merry, bright ... and in desperate need of more AA batteries,” Guthrie joked in her caption.

After seeing the pictures, many of Guthrie’s fans sent warm wishes to the Today star in the comment section. Some also inquired about her right eye, since she underwent retinal detachment surgery for it on Dec. 11.

“Merry Christmas ??! Have a great day and hope your ?? is healing well!” one fan wrote. “Are you wearing safety goggles???” another asked. “Merry Christmas Savannah ... just wondering how your eye is doing?? Still face down??” a different fan wondered.

As Today show viewers know, Guthrie has been absent from the show for a few weeks now. Her doctors deemed an optic procedure necessary after her son accidentally hit her eye with a toy train in late November. Guthrie ended up missing two days on the show immediately following the accident.

A week after her surgery, Guthrie called into the Today show to update viewers on her recovery status. At the time, she said she only had “a day or two more” left of sitting face down, which was required for healing following the procedure.

“I was kind of wishing I could come in at the end of this week, but the truth is I still can’t see out of that right eye and also it looks a little weird,” she said. “When the surgery was first done, I looked like I got punched in the face ... it was very swollen.”
