'Today's Dylan Dreyer's Husband Sparks Debate With Video of Baby Rusty at Dinner
Brian Fichera, Dylan Dreyer
Brian Fichera shared a candid video of him and wife Dylan Dreyer enjoying dinner with their family, but what their youngest son was up to caused a bit of an upset online.
The clip, uploaded to Fichera's Instagram grid earlier this week, showed the father of three and the Today show meteorologist munching on a plate of pasta, which they each paired with a glass of red wine. You know, a classic combo.
Apparently, Rusty, the couple's two-year-old, is also familiar with the complementary flavor palette as he stared down the glass, asking for "dip dip," which Fichera later explained is toddler speak for “lemme get some more wine.” Ficher then dipped his finger in the glass and gave Rusty a little taste.
The technician continued, joking in the caption, "Big Clemenza energy from Rusty."
The lighthearted post was well received by most, with many fans recalling how their elders would act similarly when they were young.
"When I was little my Aunt and Uncle gave me Lambrusco with 7up in it!?? They called it uppa 7! ????," one remembered.
"I love it! Growing up I always got to taste my fathers beer and my mothers whiskey sours??," another shared.
"I’m hysterical ! ?? but this reminds me of what we Jewish people do during our Seder for Passover," a third added. "But we dip our pinky’s . Lol."
Others saw the opportunity to feed the humor, sharing jokes like "Rusty has a refined palate & already knows how to pair wine with dinner ????," and "Goes to Italy once ??."
Still, as predicted by one who wrote, "Waiting for people to complain about you giving him a taste in 3..2..1," some took issue with the clip.
"Just because your parents did it doesn’t make it healthy," one wrote. "Not judging just saying….parents from my generation smoked too so…"
"Don’t post this. It might be cute to you but it’s not," another suggested.
But as someone else pointed out much more eloquently, the haters are gonna hate.
"Obviously he doesn’t care what anyone thinks," they wrote. "Otherwise he wouldn’t have posted this!"
Along with baby Rusty, the couple–who have been married for 11 years–share two other sons, Calvin, 6, and Oliver, who turns 4 in January.
