'Today's Hoda Kotb and Jenna Bush Hager Issue PSA Against New Beauty Trend
Hoda Kotb and Jenna Bush Hager are taking a firm stance against a resurging beauty trend.
The co-anchors shared their stern warning with viewers in a recent segment, uploaded to Instagram on Sept. 26. "PSA: DO NOT PLUCK YOUR EYEBROWS," text over the clip from the Today show read emphatically.
"There's a new beauty trend," Bush Hager hedged as the clip began, prompting Kotb to press her for more information.
"It's called the 'Skinny Brow,'" she continued, and victims of the '90s trend everywhere gasped in horror, including Bobbie Thomas, who jumped in to help with the breakdown.
"The brow is something that we see on a runway or a magazine, and everybody says it's a new trend. Do not. PSA!" she begged. "Do not pluck your eyebrows."
She likened it to cutting your own bangs, which Kotb and Bush Hager agreed with. "Everybody looked at us like, 'But it's the new trend!'" Bush Hager recalled, before remembering some of the "beauty fails" from back in the day. "If you over-pluck, they don't come back," she insisted.
Viewers were in a surprising amount of solidarity for the internet, with many recalling their own horror stories when it comes to butchering their brows.
"NEVER NEVER pluck your eyebrows. Mine never came back after the Kate Moss skinny brow debacle. ??," one recalled.
"The early 00s done plucked all of us over. They don’t come back!!" another sympathized.
"I’m 38 and can attest that they DO NOT grow back. I was duped as a teen ?? Young ladies… please don’t do it lol," a third warned.
We know everybody likes to make their own mistakes, rather than learning from others', but there may be no coming back from this one... you've been warned.
