Mom explains why her toddler goes everywhere with a plastic skeleton, his new BFF: 'He has been obsessed with it'
A 2-year-old has sparked an unusual friendship with a Halloween decoration.
Images of the boy, Theo, and the five-foot-tall plastic skeleton have delighted social media users, thanks to Utah stay-at-home mom Abigail Brady sharing photos of her son and the odd playmate — named Benny after the skeletal cab driver of the classic Disney movie Halloweentown.
Abigail tells Yahoo Life that the unlikely relationship began in September after she noticed some moisture in her basement.
“I went to check and the water heater had broken and flooded,” she says. “The basement is unfinished so it wasn't that big of a deal. While I was cleaning up the mess, [Theo] found the skeleton. When it was time to go, he wanted to bring the skeleton upstairs. He wouldn't get in the car without it so I brought Benny along. Once we got to the reservoir he refused to get out of the car unless the skeleton came along. Ever since then, he has been obsessed with it.”
Abigail created a TikTok of Theo and Benny’s time at the reservoir, which went viral. In the video, the pair can be seen hanging out in the sand, playing out at the playground and in the water. As of Friday, the video had received over 344.5k likes.
“I thought it would be a fun little video to share their unique friendship,” she says. “I was pretty surprised by all of the love that I have received. I really didn't expect it to be this big. It's definitely been a fun little adventure.”
The proud mom and lifestyle blogger has since shared several other videos to TikTok and Instagram showing Theo and Benny’s adventures, including story time, going to the grocery store, having breakfast, watching the Nightmare Before Christmas and more.

Abigail says that Theo and Benny’s friendship is just testament to his “heart of gold,” and she hopes that they have helped to provide a heartwarming break to the nonstop chaos and heartache of 2020.
“I hope that it makes people smile and brings them joy,” she says. “2020 has been so rough on everyone.”
