Tom Brady Shares How He Handles Juggling Fame With Three Kids

Being arguably the most famous football player in the NFL while also trying to raise a family didn't come without challenges, as Tom Brady explained on his Let’s Go! With Tom Brady, Larry Fitzgerald and Jim Gray podcast this week. The 46-year-old was speaking with his good friend and guest John Legend when the question came up of how their kids share their famous fathers with the world.

For Legend, he said that by now his kids are used to their parents fame and take it in stride. "They know that their mom and dad are famous, they know that their friends see their mom and dad on television, they see billboards with my face on it for The Voice or for my Vegas residency or whatever," he said.

The tables then turned to Brady, who shares his son Benjamin, 14, and daughter Vivian, 11, with his ex-wife Gisele Bündchen; as well as a son Jack, 16, with his ex-girlfriend Bridget Moynahan.

"I just grew up like a normal kid, you know? And I think my kids have a different experience," the seven-time Super Bowl champion said. "So, for a parent, I think it’s challenging. We have unique challenges for our own kids. We try to teach them the right values and so forth. But at the same time, like I feel like for me, when I’m out with my kids, I really wanna be with them, you know? And I really make it clear to people, 'Sorry, I’m just out here enjoying my time with my family, you know?'"

"Whether I’m at a game for my son, and I love doing that, but, you know, a lot of times the attention gets shifted to us," Brady continued. "And I don’t want to take away from their moments, ’cause this is their important part of their life and their maturation."

At the same time, he noted, he tries to explain to his children that everything comes at a cost. "And the reason we get to go on a lot of fun vacations and you guys go to schools and have people to help, we have to deal with some things that are different than everyone else," he added. "So, there’s no straight arrow for anyone in life, you know? Everyone’s gonna find different curves and turns and twists and I think just trying to just be a great parent."

Brady has no doubt had additional twists and turns since he and Bündchen divorced in October 2022, but the pair seem to be committed to coparenting their children.

"I've always trusted that every situation, no matter how challenging, has something to teach us and happens for our growth," the model said in an interview earlier this year. "Breakups are never easy, especially when there's a whole media speculating every step of the way. I tried to focus on my children, my health and my projects and dreams."
