When photos were published of Tom Holland on a date with a blonde girl (later identified as Olivia Bolton) in Hyde Park, Holland didn't say anything about it on social media. The Sun reported that the two had been dating for months, and Holland was apparently relieved it was no longer a secret. “Tom’s been dogged with rumors about who he’s dating so finally being public with Olivia has been a massive relief for him," the source said. "All their friends and family think they make a lovely couple. He is totally smitten."

The reality is that Tom Holland was not happy at all about his love life making the tabloids. He did an interview with GQ Style, published today, days after the incident. "It hasn't been the best week,” Holland said, agreeing it was because the girl's privacy was violated by a million tabloids.

“It's just, I'm a very private person," Holland said. "If you do a Google search, I'm not a tabloid person. I don't like living in the spotlight. I'm quite good at only being in the spotlight when I need to be. Um, so…uh…it just was a bit of a shock to the system. It's the first time I've ever kind of been in the tabloids. It's the first time something like this has ever really happened to me. So it's a bit of a shock to the system. Um, but you know, but it's something that you look at and you go, ‘Oh, well, I just don't put myself in that situation again.’”

When asked to clarify what not putting himself in that situation again means, Holland paused and eventually answered. “I don't really want to talk about it. For me, it's a reflection of a life that I don't live. And I like my private life, I like my friends, I like going out. And it—yeah, I just—”

GQ's reporter suggested it was a "new level of surveillance."

“Yeah. I was just, Whoa, what is going on here? And it was just a little stressful," Holland said. "You know, it was a wake-up of, like: This is what your life is now. So just be wary.
