This is a story about a girl named Tomi. It's early morning, she wakes up; knock knock knock on the door. It's time for makeup, perfect smile; it's her they're all waiting for - at brunch, that is.

Because political commentator Tomi Lahren went out for brunch over the weekend in Minneapolis, and someone threw a drink over her. And, you know, they say she's so lucky, she's a star, but she cries, cries, cries in her lonely heart (because she's all wet).

Lahren and her family were at a rooftop bar for brunch in the city, and video footage appears to show a fellow diner throwing a glass of water over her as she left. According to Jeremy Jackson, the bouncer at the restaurant, Lahren had complained about a group of people "scowling at her" earlier - though some reports are labeling the drink-throwing as "unprovoked," Jackson told The Blast that Lahren had addressed the group of "scowling" diners as she left, precipitating the H2OhYesSheDid moment.

After the drink was thrown, another witness said that, "literally the entire restaurant started cheering." (This witness also alleges that Lahren and her family were "extremely rude" to their server.) It then appears Lahren and her mom (who also got a lil' wet) returned to the group's table and confronted them, amid heckles from other diners. The language below is NSFW:

Lahren then left of her own accord; local newspapers report the drink-thrower was later also removed from the bar.

On Wednesday morning, Lahren went on the cable show Fox & Friends to talk about the incident - rather than, say, the response from some students at Santa Fe High School to her tweet following the mass shooting there last week or the fact that the White House is currently working to further restrict abortion rights. "I think that those that threw the water and were applauding and laughing about it wanted to get their 15 minutes of fame by making video of me," Lahren alleged.

“You don’t have to like me, you don’t have to agree with my political opinions, but you don’t have the right to throw things at me,” she continued. “Is [this] the point that we got in this country, that you can’t disagree with somebody civilly without resorting to something like that?" (Lahren's reputation is, however, in large part built on discourse that falls far short of civility, let's be clear.)

Around the same time she was on Fox & Friends, avid viewer and President of the United States Donald Trump tweeted his (and apparently everyone else's?) support, which she then retweeted with an American flag emoji.

Despite managing to spell his own wife's name incorrectly in a tweet this week, Trump did spell Tomi's name right - or wrong, if you look at the replies?

Ultimately, Lahren said the whole thing was embarrassing. "At the end of the day I’m a person too, and I do get humiliated and embarrassed just like anyone else," she said. And that's why those tears come at night.
