Spanish baby boy names are becoming increasingly popular in the United States, according to baby-naming consultant Pamela Redmond, in part because many of the names follow the trend of having an “o” ending.

"Arlo, Hugo and Mateo" are popular choices, Redmond tells TODAY.com.

"Spanish names popular in the U.S. most closely mirror those most popular in Mexico and other Latin American countries," she says, adding that the same cannot be said for the Spanish baby names that are popular in European countries.

According to Redmond, the five most popular Spanish boy names in the United States are:

• Mateo — "Gift of God"

• Santiago — "Saint James"

• Angel — "Angel"

• Leonardo — "Brave lion"

• Xavier — "New house"

Other Spanish baby names that have proven to be popular among parents include: Sebastian, Isaiah, Ezekiel, Jose and Jace, according to Redmond.

Celebrity parents are certainly inspired by Spanish boy names. Latin music star Luis Fonsi and his wife, Agueda Lopez, named their youngest son, who was born in 2016, Rocco.

Venezuelan singer Chyno Miranda named his 4-year-old son Lucca. Puerto Rican rapper and singer Anuel AA gave his son the popular Spanish name Pablo.
