Top wine events, festivals to enjoy in El Paso, Las Cruces area, fall 2024

Fall is a great season for wine events, from unique experiences to festivals with music and good food.

In the El Paso and Las Cruces area, wine lovers can look forward to some top-notch annual events to enjoy with family or friends.

The Harvest Wine Festival, held at the end of August, is one of the popular annual events in Las Cruces.

This year, a new festival will celebrate two great southern New Mexico treats — wine and pistachios — in Alamogordo. The first Corks & Shells Pistachio and Wine Festival is in the works.

Here is a closer look at wine events to enjoy.

Harvest Wine & Music Festival Las Cruces

The Harvest Wine & Music Festival will feature 17 wineries and 12 bands over a three-day event. The festival will be held Saturday, Aug. 31- Monday, Sept. 2, at the Southern New Mexico State Fair & Rodeo Grounds, 12125 Robert Larson Blvd., Las Cruces.

Vineyard Yoga + Wine event

Join certified instructor Lindley Folkerson in Zin Valle's beautiful vineyard for a one-hour session of yoga and wine Saturday, Aug. 31, at Zin Valle Vineyards, 7315 Canutillo-La Union Road in Canutillo.

Participants can choose a complimentary glass of wine from three different varieties. There will be local live music and food from a food truck, Bistro in the Vines after the session.

Bring your yoga mat; outside food and non-alcoholic beverages are allowed. Tickets are $25 and available online at Eventbrite.com

Horizon City Wine Festival 2024

El Pasoans are invited to enjoy a variety of wines from all over the world at the Horizon City Wine Festival Saturday, Sept. 21, at 500 Peyton Road. This will be the fifth year for this event. Doors will open at 2 p.m.

Live bands will keep the beat going for this all-day event.

Entertainment lineup:

  • 2 p.m.: Beatles United Tribute

  • 3 p.m.: The Jazz Exchange Duet

  • 4 p.m.: Jeremy Joseph, singing country

  • 6 p.m. Double Identity, classic rock

  • 8 p.m. Lluvia Latin Sensation

  • 10 p.m. to midnight: Grupo Doble Identidad

General admission tickets are $26, non-drinkers pay $10, and VIP tickets are $60. General admission tickets include five wine samples and a souvenir wine glass. VIP tickets will provide an indoor area with gourmet foods and exclusive wines. Tickets available online.

La Vina Vineyards to have 5K Wine Run

What a great idea — pairing exercise with wine!

The La Vina Vineyards will hold a 5K Wine Run and 1K Tasting Walk on Sunday, Sept. 14 at 4201 S. Hwy 28, La Union, N.M. Gates will open at 2 p.m., the wine run will start at 3:30 p.m., the walk at 5 p.m. The event will end at 7 p.m.

The run finishers will get a wine bottle; the walkers will get wine samples across the course.

Corks & Shells Pistachio and Wine Festival

The first Corks & Shells Pistachio and Wine Festival will be held Oct. 19 at Alameda Park in Alamogordo from noon to 6 p.m.

It will be a fun day with delicious pistachios and flavorful wines from local and regional vineyards. Tickets range from $10 to $15, available at Eventbrite.com
