Tori Kelly Shares Update About 'Scary' and 'Unexpected Health Challenges' After Hospitalization
Days after being hospitalized and getting treatment for blood clots surrounding her vital organs, Tori Kelly has spoken out about her health.
The Grammy-winning singer shared a photo of a handwritten statement on social media, giving an optimistic update. "Hi friends…as you may have heard, I'm dealing with some unexpected health challenges. It's been a scary few days but I can feel your prayers & can't stop thinking about you," the American Idol alum wrote.
She continued, "I'm feeling stronger now & hopeful but unfortunately there are still some things to uncover. I'm so grateful for the amazing doctors & nurses who have been looking after me."
Kelly lamented that her health condition derailed her promotional plans for her self-titled EP, which is out on July 28, but noted that it's best for her to prioritize taking care of herself.
"Of course I'm heartbroken about all the things I had planned for this week of releasing my EP, but I know my health must come first. Until I see you again, I still want you to enjoy a project that represents the happy place I've been in the last few years. I won't let this hurdle prevent the music from being yours on Friday!," she wrote.
She ended her statement expressing her gratitude towards fans, writing, "I love you all so much & I am truly overwhelmed by all the love & care I have received. Thank you from the bottom of my heart! Love, Tori."
Kelly received well wishes from many famous fans, which even included Sesame Street's Elmo, who wrote, "Get well soon, Miss. Tori! Elmo loves you ??."
"God is good good good all the time. Love you sis. Can’t wait for the music!!!!!!!!," shared Ashley Graham. "Praying for your full healing, honeybun! ??," wrote Community's Yvette Nicole Brown. According to TMZ, the "Dear No One" singer had been rushed to the hospital on Sunday evening after passing out at dinner with friends. It was there that doctors discovered blood clots on her legs and lungs, and had been looking to determine whether she also had clots in her heart.
A day before her statement, Kelly's husband André Murillo shared an update with fans on his Instagram Story, writing, "Tori is smiling again and feeling stronger. Not fully out of the woods but we see the sun. Just waiting on a few more answers. Your love and kindness has been overwhelming. Thank you so much!"
