Town & Country Gardeners net awards for 2023 efforts
Town & Country Gardeners of Alliance Garden Club recently received two awards from the Canton District of Garden Clubs of Ohio for their efforts in 2023.
Town & Country won a first-place award for a permanent civic improvement project and took first place in the category of Wildlife Survival Award.
In the Permanent Civic Improvement Project category, the club was honored for enhancing the beautification of Memorial Park by funding the planting of two hydrangea trees to be planted alongside the Memorial Park sign. It faces the traffic on US Route 62 (East State Street), so it enhances the sign and entrance to the park.
For the Wildlife Survival Award, the club funded The Robertson Family Lodge Butterfly Garden and Bench Project, a beautification project completed at Silver Park in Alliance. The purpose this garden serves is to create an attractive landscaped area that encourages butterflies and pollinating insects to this section of the park. This highly visited area was also designed to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Silver Park.
Town & Country Gardeners of Alliance organized in January 1952 and strives to help keep Alliance beautiful, along with projects such providing funds for Beech Creek Botanical Gardens and Nature Preserve.
