Tracee Ellis Ross Put Together an All-Black Cast to Remake 'The Golden Girls'

Tracee Ellis Ross is reimagining The Golden Girls for a worthy cause. The Black-ish star is teaming up with fellow actresses Regina King, Sanaa Lathan, and Alfre Woodard for a modern take on the beloved ‘80s sitcom on Zoom. The all-Black cast is coming together to remind folks about the power they have to make a change during the upcoming 2020 presidential election.

Directed by Gina Prince-Bythewood and hosted by Lena Waithe, the first episode will educate viewers about Color of Change, the nation’s largest online racial justice organization. According to an Instagram post, Tracee is set to portray Rose, Regina will be Dorothy, Sanaa as Blanche, and Alfre as Sophia.

How to Watch and Stream the New Golden Girls:

The new remake of The Golden Girls will air on Zoom at 9 p.m. ET on Tuesday, September 8. To access the special free event, you’ll first need to sign up on the designated website. After doing so, a Zoom link will be to sent to you via email. When it’s time, simply click on the link to open the Zoom app and start watching.
