This New Take on Trader Joe’s Famous Croissants Has Shoppers Racing to the Store
Double the trouble? Oh, please.
The Internet is heating up with buzz about a new addition to the Trader Joe's frozen section. Popular Trader Joe's Instagram account @trader_joes_treasure_hunt and TJ's fans on Reddit have spotted Double Chocolate Croissants in stores, and shoppers are dying to get their hands on them.
The treats are a new version of Trader Joe's Chocolate Croissants, a cult-favorite pastry with gooey chocolate on the inside. Sequels aren't always as good as the first edition, but that doesn't appear to be the case here, judging from the comments.

"New Double Chocolate Croissants spotted at Trader Joe’s," wrote @trader_joes_treasure_hunt in a post to their nearly 69K followers. "Chocolate Croissant Dough filled with semi-sweet chocolate. Yes, please — just proof and bake! Who’s excited for these?"
Reddit sure is. Since the Instagram announcement, the Trader Joe's subreddit has at least two threads that are focused on the brand-new croissants.

"New item spotted today," wrote u/longhairxxjungkook. "I usually love the chocolate and almond croissants, but this is intense chocolate I’m looking forward to."
This post seems to have influenced another Trader Joe's fan, who was grateful for the recommendation.

"As a major sweets gal, I was totally influenced by a poster yesterday who shared these were in stores," wrote u/DulceSiren. "[I've] never made croissants from frozen myself, so I didn’t know what to expect, but I was on the edge of my seat every step of the way. These were fun and delectable with the perfect amount of sweetness — light, flaky and soft, as well."

Not every Trader Joe's has the Double Chocolate Croissants yet. In fact, Southern and Northern California and Missouri posters noted their searches came up empty (though one happily reunited with their old friends, the Pumpkin Cheesecake Croissants). However, reactions to the new product range from "yassss" to "meh" to "Why did you tell me about these?!"
Well, why not?
One fan who hasn't tried the croissants is judging a box by its cover and already prefers them to the popular Pumpkin Cheesecake Croissants.
"My jaw dropped," said a soon-to-be fan. "This is a must-have! I don’t care for pumpkin anymore, but this looks like a holy grail item."
Another who has sunk their teeth into the gooey goodness known as the Trader Joe's Double Chocolate Croissants can confirm they're swoon-worthy.
"These are amazing — tried this AM," wrote someone on Instagram.
"Delicious," another fan wrote simply.
"I am racing to Trader Joe’s after work to find these," said one.
One person can't really say much — their mouth is too watery.
"Drool," a Redditor commented.
"I've always said chocolate croissants need more chocolate.," said a Redditor.
But one early taster isn't so sure that's the case.
"I had my first double chocolate croissant this morning," the person said in one of the Reddit threads. "If I was blindfolded, I'm not sure I could distinguish it from regular. There wasn't a chocolate vs. vanilla difference. The difference I noticed is the melted chocolate was at the base of the croissant, not the middle. I am looking forward to other's reviews."
Other Trader Joe's shoppers are committed to finding the new Double Chocolate Croissants and sharing their reviews as requested.
"Oh, lawd," started one. "[I have] purposely...never bought the chocolate ones, but [I'm going to] have to grab these."
Some even got punny.
"Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuudge," wrote one.
"Double the enjoyment," said someone else.
We see what you all did there.
"Why did you show me this?" lamented one. "I don’t need parts of that decadent treat (I will try it)."
"Well, the weight loss was nice while it lasted," said another. "[I] hope they're at the one I go to."

Reddit also had tips for taking the new treats to the next level.
"Right before you bake them, brush them with a beaten egg mixed with a little salt," one poster wrote. "Then, make sure to bake them for a decent amount of time. Croissant dough can take a long bake — makes ‘em extra crispy."
Another suggested eating the Trader Joe's Double Chocolate Croissants "with a little vanilla ice cream," while a separate sweet tooth recommended folks "drizzle [them] with more melted chocolate."
Another genius idea came in response to this comment: "There's no more space in my freezer, which is good for my blood sugar but not for my tongue," said a resister.
"No need for freezer space — just bring them home and immediately proof them... Maybe I’m a bad influence," a poster replied.
Sometimes, being bad is good.
