The Trader Joe's Cake DIY Every Taylor Swift Fan Will Love
I am a huge Taylor Swift fan—hold for audible gasps from all of my friends and family. I've voraciously consumed her music since her debut era back in 2006 and I can trace many songs in her discography back to a core memory in my life. Case in point: "Back to December" reminds me of when a dude (whose name I cannot remember now) broke up with me freshman year of high school. The fact that I attended the Eras Tour was my entire personality this past summer. And yes, I am deeply engrossed in the Taylor and Travis Kelce discourse.
I am also a passionate DIYer, and an invisible string ties me to projects where the end result is something I can eat. So it felt like the stars aligned when I came across a Reddit post where someone DIYed their own mini birthday cake using the Trader Joe's Mini Chantilly Cream Vanilla Bean Sheet Cake and, of course, a lyric from a Taylor Swift song.

What is the Taylor Swift Trader Joe's Cake DIY?
"Decided a birthday was a good reason to finally try this cake," writes Reddit user emilymm2 right before they shared a photo of said cake. On the frosted top of their Trader Joe's Mini Chantilly Cream Vanilla Bean Sheet Cake, they piped “I have this thing where I get older but just never wiser” in purple frosting. Any Swiftie will know this is a reference to Taylor Swift's song, "Anti-Hero", from her 2022 album, Midnights. If this reddit user is an anti for anything, it seems they are anti-too-much-frosting, given how they asserted such string of words "is not a phrase that exists in my vocabulary." (Though one commenter noted how the frosting to cake ratio is exactly the same - take that as you will.) Curious on all fronts, I decided to try the Swiftie-themed Trader Joe's cake DIY for myself.

My Thoughts the Taylor Swift Trader Joe's Cake DIY
One commenter on the thread mentioned how they put some sprinkles on their mini sheet cake, so I put some rainbow sprinkles on my mini sheet cake. As for the lyrics to grace the blank space of my cake? If it were two months ago, it would have been opportune for me to do exactly as the reddit user with inscription of the iconic opening line of "Anti-Hero". But alas, it is Sad Girl Autumn and my birthday will come around next August. What I did in the meantime was to choose to celebrate the freedom, the joy, and the self-righteousness that I've come to find as a result of loss and personal growth. "You're on your own, kid. You can face this", from the eponymous song off the Midnights album, spoke to me and it was the cake message I went with.
Now let's take a look from a purely taste perspective. On top of the delicately plush sheet cake there was a generous slab of thick vanilla buttercream that reminded me of chocolate ganache in texture. This Trader Joe's find is for you if you are here for the frosting.
Nothing in life is for certain, but for whatever you want to celebrate, there is probably a beautiful Taylor Swift lyric for that. And, there's always cake. I'm not a doctor like Taylor Swift is, but that much I know to be true.
