Trader Joe's Just Dropped an 'Amazing' New Baked Good, and Shoppers are Sprinting to Get Their Hands On It
Finding delicious gluten-free foods can be a bit hit or miss, depending on what you’re going for. While it’s not impossible to find a mouth-watering, decadent slice of cake sans gluten, omitting the formation of gluten proteins from baked goods can change their flavor and texture entirely, often resulting in less-than-satisfying eats. Gluten is typically found in wheat and is what gives breads and cakes their structure, lift and chew. When you knead pizza or pasta dough, you’re activating the gluten and elongating the strands to give you a product that holds its shape better thus producing a carb-y end product.
Of course, like most things, gluten isn’t for everyone. Whether you’re allergic, have an intolerance to gluten or you just happen to be cutting it out of your diet, you’re relegated to choosing certain foods over others, effectively removing breads, pastas and some grains altogether. That may work for some of you, but personally, pasta is my love language, and bread is a close second. Thankfully, we’ve come a long way from substituting gluten-filled foods with bland, flavorless cardboard, and we might just give some of them a try.

Brought to our attention by @traderjoestalia on Instagram, these tantalizing wheat-less morsels use a blend of cornstarch and tapioca starch, oat flour and three types of rice flour to mimic the texture of a traditional muffin. The sweet treat is also combined with blueberries, sour cream, lemon oil and vanilla to add flavor and moisture to the muffin, creating a spectacular eating experience. As if they weren’t already drool-worthy, the muffins are topped with a buttery oat and coarse sugar streusel, creating the perfect flourish to top of this splendiferous sweet.
As expected, fans were quick to sound off in the comments with their stamp of approval with most saying, “These are fantastic.” Best of all, a 4-pack of these gluten-free beauties will only set you back $5.99, so if you need 14 right now, it won’t even cost you a full $20. Now that sounds like something we can sink our teeth into.
