Trader Joe's Restocked a Wildly Popular Item, and People are Buying 20 At a Time
Trader Joe's
The Trader Joe’s Kimbap is finally back in stock, and judging by the quickness at which it sold out in the past, you might want to jet over to your local store before they’re gone once again.
Perhaps the summer’s most viral release from the popular neighborhood grocery chain, Trader Joe’s Kimbap took customers by storm upon its first reveal to the masses. The veggie-forward approach to the popular Korean snack quickly became one of the most sought after items for shoppers, causing them to sell out just about as fast as they showed up in the first place.
If you happen to be out of the loop, TJ’s Kimbap is a traditional Korean snack which is made up of an assortment of sautéed greens, crunchy root vegetables and crisp pickles around a base of braised tofu. The snack is then wrapped in a layer of rice and seaweed and cut into bite-sized rounds. What makes the popular snack hit home for a lot of people — beyond its delicious taste and easy heating instructions — is that TJ’s Kimbap is shipped directly from their supplier in the Republic of Korea. And now that everyone is aware of just how good this snack is, some people are resorting to desperate measures to secure as many as they can.

A few days ago, one Trader Joe’s shopper took to Reddit to describe a scenario in which they witnessed a customer filling up an entire shopping cart with the popular snack. After hearing that the Trader Joe’s Kimbap would be restocked, the shopper dashed to their local TJ’s and happily discovered the snack in the freezer section.

After noting that the store “miraculously had no ‘per customer limit’ posted,” the shopper admitted that they went ahead and grabbed two before heading for checkout. It was at checkout when they realized that the other shopper had more than taken their fair share of kimbap.
The original poster to Reddit mentioned that the employee at checkout told the customer they would need to check if there is a customer limit, to which the shopper “seemed pissed off.” The Redditor then noted that they didn't stick around to see if TJ’s let the greedy shopper purchase the cart full of kimbap, but one can only hope they only allowed them to buy a few.
When it comes to people’s favorite products, you can’t really blame somebody for trying to take advantage of the moment. It’s up to the store to clearly post quantity limitations, otherwise, you’re always going to have that one customer looking to capitalize on an opportunity. If anything, it should let you know that TJ’s Kimbap is definitely worth trying, so long as someone doesn't clear out the selection in one fell swoop.
